Bayport is a small town with old concrete, and the housing history explains it. Much of the building near downtown and the Andersen plant went up between the 1910s and the 1940s for people working at the mill, on narrow lots, and the garages that go with those houses are small, detached and unheated, standing on slabs poured at some later point nobody has a record of. Those are the slabs that need reading before they are quoted: older concrete is often thinner, was frequently poured without a vapor barrier, and has usually been painted at least once. The other Bayport fact is the river. The town is on the water, and lower-level slabs downtown and along Highway 95 pass more moisture than the ones up on the bluff behind town, so a calcium chloride test comes before any below-grade quote here. Bayport also has real industrial floor for its size, because the plant and the river ground are here and so are the buildings that serve them.
