Garage Floor Coatings · Cannon Falls, MN · Est. 2003
Cannon Falls is a Goodhue County river town where US-52 crosses the Cannon River, southeast of Hastings and northwest of Red Wing. The Cannon Valley Trail starts here and runs down the old rail grade along the river to Red Wing. We install polyurea + polyaspartic floor coatings for Cannon Falls homeowners: diamond-ground prep, custom flake colors, 1–2 day install, written 15-year warranty. An 1880s to 1920s core along the river and up the hill from downtown, mid-century fill behind it, and newer development on the east side toward US-52. Outside the city limits it turns to farm ground, where detached shops and pole buildings are common.
Garage Floor Coatings in Cannon Falls
Cannon Falls has an older core than its size suggests. The housing along the river and up the hill from downtown Mill Street runs from the 1880s to the 1920s, and the garages that go with it are usually detached, unheated, and on slabs poured decades after the house. Century-old concrete is worth reading before it is quoted: it is often thinner than modern concrete, was frequently poured without a vapor barrier, and has generally been painted at least once along the way. Behind that core is ordinary mid-century housing, and the newer building on the east side toward US-52 has modern slabs that grind clean. Outside the city limits the work changes shape entirely, because this is farm country and the detached shop or pole building is normal: a bigger floor, heavier equipment, oil and fuel, often no heat. Cannon Falls also gets none of the heat-island moderation the metro has, so its concrete crosses freezing more times each winter and door-line spalling shows up earlier here than it does in the suburbs.
Cannon Falls garages run a wide age range for a small town. The 1880s to 1920s core along the river and up from Mill Street has detached, unheated garages on slabs poured long after the house, which need a temperature window for curing and the most prep: prior paint, thin concrete, spalled edges. Mid-century and newer housing behind the core and out toward US-52 has conventional attached garages on slabs that grind predictably. Out on the farm ground the job is often a shop or machine shed floor instead.
Why we don't install epoxy in Cannon Falls
Most epoxy floor installers learned the trade 15–25 years ago, when epoxy was the only game in town. The chemistry has moved on. Modern polyurea and polyaspartic resins outperform epoxy on every measurable axis that matters for a garage. We made the switch in 2010 and never looked back. Here's what you'd run into with an epoxy install, straight, no marketing fluff:
That's the why. Polyurea costs roughly the same as a professional epoxy install ($7–9 per square foot for a flake system, fully warrantied), and it outlasts the epoxy floor by a factor of 10. There's no scenario where epoxy is the better choice for a Wisconsin garage. So we don't install it.
Cannon Falls Pricing
We post pricing because you deserve to know if we're in your budget before we drive out. Every number below is for our standard polyurea + polyaspartic flake system, fully installed, warrantied, and including diamond-ground prep + crack repair. (For reference: a professional epoxy install runs about the same, $5–8 / sq ft, but doesn't last. The math is on polyurea's side.)

Final number depends on slab condition (cracks, spalling, soft patches), the color blend you pick, and any non-standard repairs. Send four photos and Dave will text back a real number the same day. No quote-bot, no salesperson, no follow-up calls. Just an honest install price.
The 6-step install
Same checklist on every floor. The reason our coatings still look new at year ten when the cheap stuff peeled in year two.
